Background on Dr. Ceron
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Cerón was born in Bogotá, Columbia
and moved to the United States at the age of five. She received her Bachelor
of Science Degree in Biology from University of California Los Angeles
(UCLA). Dr. Cerón earned her Medical Degree from Creighton University
School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and completed her internship in internal
medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine. She then traveled to
California for her ophthalmology residency at Charles Drew University/Martin
Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles County. Dr. Cerón completed
a fellowship in Medical Retina at the Beetham Eye Institute/Joslin Diabetes
Center in 2006 and completed a fellowship in Surgical Retina at the Massachusetts
Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2007. Prior to joining MERSI, Dr. Cerón
was employed as a staff physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
in Boston from 2007 to 2009, where she worked as a Retina Specialist. She
has specialized experience in retinal diseases, particularly diabetic retinopathy,
macular degeneration, and retinal detachment, as well as general ophthalmology.
